The town of Le Locle is the capital of the district of Le Locle in the canton of Neuchâtel. Le Locle is an industrial city and is considered the cradle of Swiss watchmaking. Mid-2009, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Le Locle. Le Locle lies at 920 meters above sea level, 8 km southwest of La Chaux-de-Fonds. Le Locle extends in a narrow, drained from Bach Bied high valley in the Neuchâtel Jura, between the heights of Grand Som Martel in the south and in the north Pouillerel.
